Dr Kandis Boyd Wyatt

Dr. Kandis Boyd is an award-winning author, lecturer, and STEAM advocate. As a Meteorologist with nearly 30 years of experience, she is devoting her talents to engaging tomorrow’s leaders in STEAM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. She is a global speaker, renowned expert, and has written over 50 articles and hosted over 30 podcasts on S.T.E.A.M. topics. Dr. Boyd is a Professor and has taught students of all ages for over a decade.

As one who leads by serving, Dr. Kandis Boyd has developed scholarly initiatives and explored innovative methods to shape the curriculum from Pre K to Post Secondary. Her new educational initiative is Professor S.T.E.A.M. is the culmination of her life’s work delivering engaging lectures in a variety of settings: community organizations, scholarly conferences, and virtual classrooms. As well, Dr. Kandis Boyd has led collaborative research projects, mentored faculty and students, and counseled senior executives on administrative, managerial, and technical issues. The Professor S.T.E.A.M. book series is a culmination of her two passions -teaching youth and S.T.E.A.M. activities. This rhyming storybook is intended to introduce S.T.E.A.M. concepts to tomorrow’s leaders in a fun and engaging manner.

Dr. Boyd is the recipient of the 2018 American Public University’s Graduate Teaching Excellence Award and the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research’s 2019 Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)/Diversity Individual Award. Dr. Boyd is also the 2020 winner of the American Meteorological Society’s Charles E. Anderson Award for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the 2020 Recipient of the Black Engineers of the Year (BEYA) Award for Career Achievement, and the 2020 Recipient of the National Weather Association Special Achievement Award for Lifetime Achievement.
